Our Favorite Shows to Binge on Netflix During Quarantine
Going from your active, busy day-to-day life to staying at home 24/7 can be a bit challenging, especially when you don't know how to occupy all the free time that you now have. To try and ease some of the struggle, we want to recommend our top shows to make time fly and keep your mind sane.
Ivana's Picks
1. Grey's Anatomy
"It has a lot of suspense and the show doesn't drag; each character has a good storyline and every episode is different. For me, if shows don't grab me within the first episode, I don't continue watching but this one gets you within the first 30 seconds. Be prepared to cry... a lot."
2. Gossip Girl
"Lots of drama, it shows the toxic side of being super rich and is very entertaining."
Brendalin's Picks
1. La Reina del Sur
"I like it because it shows the drug world from a woman's perspective and how her life is affected after leaving it and the dangers of raising her child. I also like that it covers a variety of countries so it's multicultural and not just rooted in Colombia or Mexico."
2. Elite
" You don't expect the twists and turns and you get insight into a lot of different multicultural households and social classes and how that affects each of the students' differently."
Alanis' Picks
1. Mindhunter
Created and directed by David Fincher (mastermind behind movies like Se7en and Zodiac), Mindhunter is one of the most well-written and directed shows out there. The actors are phenomenal and the storyline is fascinating for anyone that is interested in the topic of serial killers. The story is based on the book Mindhunter, written by two FBI agents about how the Behavioral Science Unit in the FBI was founded, how the term 'serial killer' was coined, and how what we know today as criminal profiling was invented. Although all the serial killers in the show and the dialogue are very true to real life events and the book, the main characters are fictitious and loosely based on the authors; their individual story-lines and character development are just as riveting to watch.
2. Sex Education
Definitely don't watch it around your kids, but this show is so funny, lighthearted, and heartfelt, too. Although the subject matter is sometimes raunchy, the overall show has a lot of heart and soul; each character is multi-dimensional and their story-lines are very interesting, they all add something worth watching to the show.
